About Tannery-Free ™ Sourcing & Green Processing

Almost all beef hide passes through a leather tannery before being processed into dog chews. We have become increasingly concerned that through accidents or careless handling, toxic tannery chemicals such as chromium, formaldehyde or magnesium could find their way into dog chews. Our Tannery-Free™ sourcing ensures that no tannery chemicals ever get close your dogs.

The Great American Pet Treat Company is one of the first national dog treat manufacturers to completely by-pass tanneries, brokers and intermediaries to obtain raw material directly from the source. We purchase beef collagen and protein directly from USDA-inspected meat processing facilities and transport it to our plant in refrigerated trucks for processing.

We have also developed a proprietary green processing system that uses enzymes and fresh water to make sure that the products we make are ultra-safe and that any waste we create, is safe too.
